Eurofins | Chem-MAP team verify textile, synthetic and leather chemical formulations to ZDHC MRSL Conformance Levels. Once a chemical manufacturer’s formulations become Chem-MAP certified, the manufacturers are given access to the ZDHC Gateway and approved formulations will be listed on the ZDHC Gateway. The portal gives manufacturers and brands the ability to review suppliers’ chemical formulations – ensuring chemicals used in product supply chains are conformant to the requirements of the ZDHC MRSL.
In this article, Megan Bennett, Technical Sales for Chem-MAP, outlines the benefits of the ZDHC Gateway and how chemical manufacturers in the textile, synthetic and leather industries can register certified formulations on the gateway.
What is the ZDHC Gateway?
The ZDHC Gateway is an online portal that has been developed by an organisation commonly known as ZDHC. ZDHC stands for Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals. As an organisation, ZDHC are committed to eliminating harmful chemicals, by implementing sustainable chemistry solutions, in the textile, apparel, and footwear industries.
The ZDHC Gateway is a tool, used by chemical formulators, brands, and suppliers to support and help simplify the management of hazardous chemicals and the search for suitable alternatives.
Chemical manufacturers that are signed up to the Gateway, can add their ZDHC MRSL compliant formulations to demonstrate their commitment to responsible chemistry to downstream users, namely brands and manufacturers. The ZDHC MRSL highlights banned chemistry and specifies acceptable requirements for the manufacture of chemical formulations.

How can chemical manufacturers register formulations on the ZDHC Gateway?
Chemical manufacturers start their journey to ZDHC conformance by engaging with a ZDHC accepted certification programme, such as Eurofins | Chem-MAP.
The Eurofins | Chem-MAP programme provides ZDHC accepted certification for Levels 1, 2 and 3.
Independent of which Level is selected, the manufacturer is required to upload their formulation portfolio onto the ZDHC Gateway, then complete the relevant modules through the Eurofins | Chem-MAP programme, as described below.
On successful completion and conformance to each requirement of the requested Level, the Eurofins | Chem-MAP team will ensure the Gateway listing is updated accordingly with all registered chemicals.
