Pili Awarded ZDHC Level 1 Certification!

Published 27th March 2025

Eurofins | Chem-MAP are excited to share that Pili Bio have successfully certified with ZDHC level 1 certification against MRSL V3.1 for their indigo pigment. This certification aligns with Eurofins | Chem-MAP Protocol 5.0 and adheres to the latest conformity guidelines issued by ZDHC in November 2022.

“The Chem-MAP team are proud to certify Pili Bio against ZDHC level 1 conformance. This certification is a positive step for the success and sustainability of the textile industry” – Eurofins | Chem-MAP programme.

“We are thrilled to announce that Pili’s biobased indigo has achieved Level 1 conformance to the ZDHC Manufacturing Restricted Substances List (ZDHC MRSL). This certification confirms that our indigo contains no chemical substances banned for use, aligning with current 320 signatories who are paving the way toward a safer fashion industry.

Unlike traditional chemical restrictions that focus solely on consumer safety in finished products, this certification addresses potential impacts on workers, local communities, and the environment throughout the manufacturing process (stakeholders along the supply chain)

Notably, our biobased indigo is aniline-free. Aniline, commonly used in the petrochemical synthesis of indigo, is classified as carcinogenic, mutagenic, and reprotoxic (CMR). By eliminating such hazardous substances, we are taking a significant step towards safer and more sustainable textile production.” – Pili Bio.
