What is the Vegan Verification DNA Analysis?

DNA analysis is the foundation of the Eurofins | Chem-MAP® Vegan Verification programme in assisting manufacturers, brands, and retailers to test, verify and certify chemicals, materials, and products as vegan.

Using Next Generation Sequencing (NGS), the Eurofins | Chem-MAP® laboratory team can extract DNA from input components and ingredients to identify even the most minute presence of over 25,000 animal species, including mammal, bird, fish, insect, crustacean, and mollusc. With cross-contamination of a product detectable, companies can be confident that the vegan products they are selling to consumers do not contain any traces of animal derived ingredients when tested for the presence of animal DNA. Consumer confidence can also be heightened as tested products can display the Eurofins Vegan Verification mark. Furthermore, the test methodology is registered & approved with the Vegan Society, meaning that Eurofins can support with applications for the use of the Vegan Society trademark.
