Chem-MAP® team at Eurofins | BLC, jointly works with Smit & Zoon to achieve ZDHC Conformance Level 3 – the highest level of certification.

We are pleased to announce that our client Smit & Zoon has achieved Level 3 ZDHC certification for all of Smit & Zoon branded wet-end leather chemicals produced in the Netherlands.

The aim of the ZDHC certification process is to help companies working with the footwear, apparel and accessories industry exhibit their commitment to responsible chemical management, working towards the ultimate goal of the zero discharge of hazardous chemicals. Conformance to the limits of ZDHC Manufacturing Restricted Substances List (MRSL) demonstrates improved upstream chemical management and reduction of the industry’s chemical footprint.

The Chem-MAP® team have liaised closely with Smit & Zoon and have jointly worked through the c-MAP programme (for chemical formulators), for Smit & Zoon sites based in the Netherlands.  The c-MAP Level 3 programme implements three modules to achieve conformity; Module One – MRSL testing to the requirements of the ZDHC MRSL, Module Two – An on-site chemical management audit and Module Three – Confirmation of Chemical Supply Chain Transparency.  Smit & Zoon achieved ZDHC Level 0 to Level 3 certification in less than 6-months of starting the c-MAP programme.

Achieving Level 3 certification has reinforced Smit & Zoon’s market position as an industry leader in sustainability and has helped secure its company-wide focus on sustainability, operational excellence and outstanding service.

We are proud to be collaborating with Smit & Zoon: helping the company achieve the highest level of ZDHC certification for their Netherlands based sites in 2019, and working together on attaining Level 3 ZDHC certification globally for the company in 2020.
