Georgina Mawer of Eurofins | BLC, highlights the need for robust chemical management systems.

Published 28th November 2019

Addressing the challenges of chemical management in the leather and textile industry was the key topic at the Eurofins | BLC, and Eurofins | AQM technical seminar in Amsterdam on the 22nd November 2019.

During the event, Eurofins | BLC’s Chemical Lead and Chem-MAP® Technical Manager, Georgina Mawer, received positive feedback from delegates after successfully delivering her keynote presentation on how brands can implement a robust chemical management system.  Georgina also gave an overview of how implementing the Chem-MAP® programme can help minimise risk around hazardous chemistry.

Supported by Francesca Giometti, Eurofins| AQM, the two keynote speakers gave valuable insight on notable challenges within the industry with topics covering: how to better control factories’ chemical management practices, wastewater, the elimination of hazardous chemicals from the supply chain, and how to implement a robust chemical management system.

Georgina and Francesca’s approach to disseminating technical information ensured that delegates were able to derive succinct advice from the event such as:

‘Engaging presentations, which not only highlighted the challenges faced by manufactures but also offered solutions that can be implemented with ease.’

‘Valuable examples used by the team to help the audience understand why material supply chain knowledge can help support supplier transparency and traceability of chemicals.’

‘Powerful reasoning behind the need to align processes with ZDHC goals and objectives.’

The technical seminar attracted professionals from each stage of the supply chain process from retail, brand to manufacturers working within the leather and textiles industry.

The next event will take place in the UK in 2020.

Venue and timings to be announced.
